There are 258 staff who are active service in School of Chemistry and Chemistry Engineering of Shan Dong University, which is one of the schools which have most staff. Among the staff, there are 45 professors including 3 academicians and 19 doctor advisers. What`s more, there are 79 associate professors in the School. The number of master advisers is more than 80. And there are 43 teachers who have Ph. D. degree, more than 70 teachers have master degree. 11 teachers were awarded special allowance by the government, 8 teachers are awarded the title of Distinguished Person with Ability of Shandong Province. At the first engagement for post in Shandong University, 9 professors of our school are engaged in the key post of Shandong University, 12 professors are engaged in important post of Shandong University.

The School is composed of 11 institutes: Inorganic Chemistry Institute, Organic Chemistry Institute, Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry Research Center, Collide and Interface Chemistry Center, Theoretical Chemistry Institute, Polymer Chemistry and Physics Institute, Applied Chemistry Institute, Chemical Engineering Institute, Chemical Technics Institute, Medicine Chemistry Institute and the Center of Experiment and Teaching of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering.
There are two key laboratories in the School, one is Ministry of Education key Laboratory of Collide and Interface Chemistry, the other is Key laboratory of Polymer Material of Shandong Province. Physical Chemistry is the key discipline of Shandong Province. The school also established other institutes such as KTP Lab and Three Star Fine Chemicals Company, etc.

In recent years, the scale of recruiting graduates increases quickly. In 2001, 80 graduate students and 30 doctor graduates enrolled School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. The total number of graduates is 178 and doctor graduates is 73. The School is one of the schools which has the most graduates. At the same time, the scale of recruiting undergraduate also increases significantly. We have 4 undergraduate specialties: chemistry, applied chemistry, chemical engineering and double bachelor degree of chemistry and chemical engineering. In 2001,the number of the freshmen of the 4 specialties is 253. Now nearly 1000 undergraduates of the School are at university.

With the development of 75 years, School of Chemistry and Chemical engineering has already been the important base where a large number of advanced comprehensive persons with ability for the nation were trained. Some of those have been scholars, experts, politicians and entrepreneurs who play important role in universities, research institutes, governments and enterprises. They have made great contributions for the development of chemistry and economy. Well-know academicians such as Wang Weixing, Zhu Zhaoliang, Wu Zuze, Qian Yitai, Jiang Minhua and Xue Qunji are outstanding representatives of them. These respected people make the history of the School flowery and splendid,they are our pride,and the successor`s models.
